CCL’s mission is focused on advancing effective climate solutions at the federal level, so your local chapter meets with South Dakota’s representatives and senators in the U.S. Congress.
Our state is currently 85% in drought and our average temperature has risen +2.1 degrees F this year. South Dakota had experienced at least 4 major federal disaster declarations and multiple severe multi-day storm outbreaks so far in 2026. Rain, hail, wind, and flood events have become more frequent and severe. Wildland and forest fires have increased and the ‘fire season’ has become year round.
