Absolutely. Many Nebraska volunteers participate from areas without a nearby chapter — you can dial into CCL’s national meetings on Zoom, take monthly actions from home, or volunteer with one of CCL’s national Action Teams.
We can also support you with all the training and information you need to start a chapter in your area.
CCL’s mission is focused on advancing effective climate solutions at the federal level, so your local chapter meets with Nebraska’s representatives and senators in the U.S. Congress.
Most of Nebraska has been in a chronic state of severe drought for the past decade–very significant for a state whose economy is based on agriculture. In 2023 much of our Plant Hardiness Zone shifted from 5b to 6a, and we have also been experiencing extreme heat this summer. Our property insurance is among the highest in the nation due to frequent high winds and hail damage. On the other hand, we have tremendous potential for both wind and solar energy.
